Actions have become something that we are aware of at all times. The language barrier has gotten more frustrating as time goes on. We have had trouble trying to talk to the kids, help them with their homework, or help when arguments are happening. Tonight during their bible study, we didn't know the words to the songs or the words in the lesson. BUT by watching people's actions, we have seen the Lord moving so strongly.
Tonight we were looking around and watching the kids during worship. They were all singing so loud, some had their arms raised and some had their eyes closed. It is cool to see kids have so much passion like that. But one child stuck out to me. The little girl who is going blind caught my eye. (She could see in December, so since then it has gotten progressively worse.) During the prayer she had her hands clasped up to her face and during worship she put her hand on her heart and sang every word with so much passion. When I was putting her to bed, she got in bed and thought I had left. I was helping another little girl get her pillows in order and I looked over and saw her praying so intensely in bed. She went to bed with a smile on her face. During worship she had no idea if the other kids were raising their hands or singing with their eyes closed. It was pure worship for her. Her actions were so passionate. These are the things I know God is trying to show us through these awesome kids.
"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and truth." 1 John 3:18
So here we are, not being able to love with words or speech, but only with actions and truth. God has given us such a great challenge. It is so sweet to see Kirstyn sitting with a little boy in dinosaur pajamas during the devo or Taylor giving a kiss on the cheek to a little girl before bed and realizing that our actions are speaking love to these kids.
When it is difficult to communicate, God has other ways for us to reach these kids. We have 8 more weeks to show these kids that we think they can conquer the world through our smiles, hugs, and actions.
Smile more often,
the girls!
